HBDC Program
Cepheid is an active participant in the global fight against TB, with support from partners to date including the Foundation for Innovative New Diagnostics (FIND), StopTB, USAID, UNITAID, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and others.
Our High Burden Developing Country, or HBDC, program launched in early 2011, and has placed thousands of GeneXpert® Systems and delivered millions of Xpert® cartridges to some of the most TB-challenged geographies in the world.
Recognizing the importance of actively enabling global access to developed world molecular diagnostics, Cepheid and its partners have made the Xpert MTB/RIF cartridge available at low margin. The company continues to partner to bring further, potentially life-saving innovations to HBDC, including remote calibration and cloud-based data consolidation initiatives, in addition to the extension of the Xpert test menu that is available to our HBDC customers at special pricing.
Through the HBDC program, Cepheid is gaining significant brand awareness in emerging markets as we further extend our commercial operations outside the United States and Europe.
